This community based training looks at why people do (and don't) get involved and provides strategies on how you can help reduce child abuse in your communities by stepping in and supporting families. In the workshop, you will explore how to build relationships by connecting with others in times of need or stress, foster the idea that it's okay to ask for and receive help in stressful times, learn how to be most helpful to other caregivers without causing harm, and empower yourself to feel confident in offering support.
Every family has challenges and strengths. Research shows that having the 5 Protective Factors in your life keeps families strong and healthy. By understanding these 5 Protective Factors, we can all improve our families' lives through understanding our needs as caregivers and our children's needs so that we have less stress in our daily lives.
Maine law requires that certain professionals, identified as Mandated Reporters, who suspect child abuse and neglect report to Child Protective Services. Maine law also requires training once every four years. The purpose of Mandated Reporter training is to promote child safety by increasing the knowledge of Mandated Reporters. Participants will learn how to identify the signs of abuse and neglect and the process for making a report.
This two in one training will share Maine State recommendations for infant safe sleep with trained staff who can answer your questions. As well as information on Period of Purple Crying, which is a developmental stage infants experience and can be overwhelming for parents! This training is great for professionals who work with infants as well as expecting families!
This training can count as a Continuing Education Unit.
